I had the pleasure of Guest lecturing today in Prof Landon Young's Process of Creativity Class at William Jewell College. This is the frst semester of the new course so it was an honor to be invited to lead the class. I spoke about the various approaches to developing and devising new works, and led the class through several exercises using improvisation, impulse and spontaneity. Creativity occurs In various modes of working, especially now with the emergence of so much cross disciplinary fields to pursue. The thing that is hard to shake off when starting from what we call a "launching point" is the need to focus on end product vs revising and recycling process. Yet, it is essential to remain in a place of bafflement in order to fully excavate the subtext and ultimate truth of pure messages, which culminate in true creative illumination.
